يعد كل من كتاب “جمهرة أنساب العرب” لابن حزم، وما أورده المقري من اقتباسات عن كتاب “فرحة الأنفس” لابن غالب، من أفضل المصادر عن استقرار المسلمين في إسبانيا، ولكن بعضاً من المعلومات التي وردت في هذين المصدرين كانت بعيدة عن الفترة المبكرة للفتوح بالإضافة إلى كونها معلومات قد اتصفت بالتعميم، ومع هذا فقد اكتفى بعض المؤرخين المحدثين بالاعتماد على هذين المصدرين فقط عند وصف استقرار المسلمين في إسبانيا.
